Quebec Student Aid
Purpose: To recognize and reward academic achievement at the senior high school level and to encourage students to pursue post-secondary studies.
Eligibility: Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and an Alberta resident Must plan to enroll or be enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program or apprenticeship program.
Selection: A student must have a minimum combined average based on five designated courses in at least one grade: Grade 10, 11 or 12. A student does not need to meet this average in all three school years or in all courses to qualify for a portion of the scholarship. The minimum average, value of the award, and courses that can be used depend on the year the student graduated
Purpose: To encourage students to pursue a post-secondary education and to recognize and reward exceptional academic achievement at the senior high school level.
Value: One award of $3,500 Eligibility: Open residents of Alberta, who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents. It must have completed their final year of high school in Alberta. The school has to follow the Alberta Education Curriculum. Applicants must be continuing their studies for a degree granting post-secondary institution in Canada. University transfer programs are acceptable.
Selection: Grade 12 high school students are ranked according to the same criteria as for the Rutherford Scholars as determined on the first writing of Diploma Examinations in the following courses: one of English 30-1, 30-2, or Francais 30, 30-2, and Social Studies 30, 30-1 or 30-2 plus any three other subjects: Mathematics 31, Mathematics 30-1 or 30-2, Biology 30, Chemistry 30, Physics 30 or Science 30.
Eligibility: Applicants must be residents of Alberta and plan to enroll at a university, college or technical institute, in the second or subsequent year of full-time study. Alberta students studying outside the province because their program of study is not offered in Alberta will be considered for a scholarship if their class standing is in the top two percent of their program.
